Cirl Buntings (1 Viewer)

There are a number of suitable sites to view Cirl bunting listed on the links below. Please also follow the guidelines, Cirls are a Schedule 1 species and as such any disturbance during the breeding season, including August, is illegal.

http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/c/cirlbunting/where.asp

A new RSPB reserve at Labrador Bay, on the coast south of Teignmouth, also has Cirl buntings http://www.rspb.org.uk/supporting/campaigns/labradorbay/update.asp

As an aside please can I ask people not to publish any Cirl Bunting sites not on this list, or indeed any site for rare breeding birds. Egging still takes place across the SW and beyond, with Devon's birds particularly at risk.

Cheers
Kev

Hello,

We managed to see plenty of cirl buntings last week around a dozen id say.

not sure if its correct to give the location out here. But it's not listed from what i can see so best not.

Also caught some juvenile robins at the same location..

Its quite a trek but i'm looking forward to my next trip - when the sun is shining this time!

hello

Well it is certainly different to the other two thats for sure, sorry about that chaps. However, it does give me a "tick" as i hadn't seen one - or so i thought. hehehe.

I was at RSPB reserve at Labrador Bay during 17-18th december and no signs of any Cirls there then.

regards
Pat
