Not wrong but Hodgson 1837 (May) clearly refer to Sanskrit (not Hindi), see foot-note, here:syama
Hindi syama black-blue, dark-coloured (subsp. Aviceda leuphotes).
*Syama, in Sanskrit, means black-blue.
