The summer breeding grounds of many species of sandpipers, ducks, and other aquatic birds were completely or mostly under glacial ice during Ice Ages.
Where did they breed?
Around large, now extinct, lakes that formerly existed in western North America. These sites are currently desert but hold many fossil remains of extralimital, extinct, and extant species.
