Cat threatening my birds (1 Viewer)

My cat has taken notice of my birds at my feeders and goes down there to stalk them some times. I chase him away with sticks or stones (which ever I can get my hands on first). He seems to be easing up but I want to know how to make him stop. He's already killed 1 male American Goldfinch so got any ideas?

I like the "my birds" bit, I feel the same about my garden visitors, sorry I haven't any help though other than keeping the cat indoors.
