After dropping my partner and her friend at Mexborough I took the back road back to Goldthorpe.

Goldthorpe Common

115 Barn Owl

I have been checking this area from my car as they are building houses on what was last year a great place to view hunting barn owls.
Having not seen any for many months I was delighted to see one hunting in an adjacent field and over an area of old railway line and rough pasture.
I will be keeping a check on them when posssible.

14th March 2015

Mixed weather today sunshine and strong breeze, then later overcast but no rain. Much cooler today than last few days improvement forecast for new week.

On our recent visit to the Lincolnshire coast I recorded a Water Pipit, at bird 119 however I has come to light that this bird which was identified as a Water Pipit was in fact a Scandinavian Rock Pipit of which there are several on the east coast. In view of this I have cancelled the WATER Pipit , I shall ask the admin to edit my post accordingly.
