Black headed gull chicks (1 Viewer)

Black headed gull behaviour

So i was sitting watching Gulls yesterday and it started to rain quite heavily (luckily i was indoors) but anyways i noticed quite a few bh-gulls sitting out in the rain with their heds pointing almost straight up in the direction of the rain.

Been trying to think why they would be doing that rather than sitting there head down trying not to get wet...

As soon as the rain stopped heads went back down.

Just wondering if anyone else had observed this before in gulls or any other species and have a clue why they do it?
