You can get mint copies for around €900, more used for maybe €600-700. I'm sure that will go down if they bring out one with IS.

It is very solid and very well made.
Here on my E-M1 with my home made strap for carrying. The black thing is an old arm warmer from my biking gear, here pulled back so you can see the focusing ring, the two black rubber rings right in front of it. I can focus with the cover pulled all the way to the end, but it is easier and quicker like this.
The 1.4x Extender III, (newest generation) runs around €400. Worth the extra over the II version. Much cleaner.
I haven't tried yet with a TN, but I am tempted, provided I can do it without having to change anything on the TN element itself. Still need it for the scope. It can be a bit of a contrast killer, but sometimes it is very helpful.

Look here:

Later,
I tried the TN but as I suspected it does not work well with this type of lens. Fuzzy and lacks contrast.

Oops....
See post 1916 and 1918. I was just looking through and realized that all but the third one in post 1916 were taken with the little mFT 75-300 II zoom. In the excitement I had completely forgotten that I took some with that lens...
Wish I had had my Canon-mFT adapter that day. The Canon 400/5.6 would have been ideal for the Red Kites!

Thanks Dan. I had to sneak around the garden to get in position for this one. That also involved opening the doors in the rear of the garage to get the scope out. The doors were only about 8m from the bird and I was in full view. 'Softly, softly, catchee monkey' as they say.

Another with my Canon 400/5.6 "scope" on my E-M1, also through our double window:

We are being plagued by Hawfinches! We have well over a dozen individuals, both sexes, juvenile, first year, adult, old aged... the works. Sometimes three or four in the feeder at once! They are eating us out of house and home. But then... we don't HAVE to feed them now, do we?;);)

Common Terns

Some Common Terns from a photo session with more than 50% keeper rate (all time high!). Shame about the framing, but the nice light makes up for that.

I have some plans to check out Falsterbo tomorrow, before the cold front hits us on Sunday, with some luck there will be Caspian and Sandwich Terns on migration. Fall is knocking on the door ...

Sandwich Terns

Sometimes seen here at this time of the year. The breeding plumage is already gone, they will shortly be heading South.

That is called jet propulsion, Paul.;)
Made it down to Hungary for the first time since we got back from Sweden in June. My wife wanted to try out her new eyes. She had cataracts and got a new pair of lenses. I am totally jealous! She sees all kinds of things now that I can't see even with my glasses on!;)
Anyway, there wasn't much going on, but I liked the early fall colors.

Notice how I missed the focus on the second one? Getting harder all the time:-C
