Is the Alpen Pro 8x25 Long Eye Relief Binoculars model 335 an Opticron Taiga (from the enclosure): 11oz, 16mm ER, BaK 4 prisms , MC? The former is available in the USA for not a lot of money.

Don't confuse these with the Alpen Pro 8x25 Wide Angle Binoculars model 286. Which seem to use the same enclosure as the Bushnell 8x26 (but aren't waterproof or have a BaK4 prisms ... so the case isn't the only thing).

This may be the product ... for $55 but SA never has good technial details though they do have the right photograph.

Amazon has them for $78

If anyone tries them post your experiences.

It does look to be the same as the old Opticron, Kevin. Birdwatching.com gave it a good review in their 2002 Pocket Binocular Review, but in their Chart, they gave it only 6 for Resolution, compared to 9 for the Olympus PC I 8x25. The Olympus (like the new Taiga) is one of those bins that you just love as soon as you put it up to your eyes—well, it was in my case—and it can be had for only $57.47 from Amazon. A snip.
