I have been observing Blue-tailed bee eater since last few years. As we all know that they make their nest holes on the river bank so my question is what habitat they opt for in the monsoon when the river bank get flooded?

Hi hiranmoy, a warm welcome to you from the BirdForum Moderators & Administration. Good to have you with us :t: ! Our Blue-tailed Bee-eaters on Kinmen Island nest in various embankments. Some being river banks above the waterline. Some are high enough to remain above the monsoon and typhoon floods but some get washed away.

Hi hiranmoy and a warm welcome from me too

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I'll look forward to your contributions.

Blue-tailed bee eater

Here The bird Blue-tailed bee eater is available for a particular season, starting winter to the end of summer. When the monsoon comes they leave their territory and flew somewhere else. I wanted to know that whether this nature is same at you place or something different there.

Ours arrive in May and leave in September. Breeding tends to be May and June. Our bee-eaters allegedly winter on the Sundas.
