Are these water louse (Ascellus aquaticus) mating

I think they are one of the species that mate guard - the male carries the female around until she sheds her skin, and then mates once she is soft. Can't remember what happens with eggs thereafter. And yes, the photos are Asellus

Thank you, that's interesting to learn. I bought a little compact camera for diving and tried it out in my pond first!

Checked up - the eggs are carried in a brood poch til they hatch.
