3rd party case for 8x32 SV? (1 Viewer)

I recently bought a second-hand pair of 8x32 Swarovisions (non Field Pro). Whilst the binoculars are fantastic, the Swarovski-supplied case is huge and I'm thinking about getting hold of a sleeker, space-saving replacement case for when I'm travelling.

Has anybody got any recommendations for cases that I should look at?

Thanks!

I was wondering the other day what case Swarovski supplies with the new FieldPro 8X32. You are right in that the case with the pre FieldPro models was huge.

Swaro came out with a new case design when going to the FieldPro last year. It comes in three sizes, medium, large and extra large. I believe the medium is for the 42mm, the large for the 50mm and the x-large for the 56mm SLC. I assume they supply the medium with the 8X32 but I do not know that for sure. Thus my curiosity about what is now coming with the 8X32.

I bought a medium new FieldPro case recently from Eagle Optics for an 8X42 SLC. It is noticeably smaller than the original field bag, but there is plenty of extra room. That would be even more so with the 8X32. The outside demensions of the new medium FieldProd case is about 8 inches long, 6 1/2 inches wide and 3 inches thick. I am not sure how that compares to the old bag that came with the 8X32.

Here a link to the Swaro USA web page showing the new cases .....

They are on the expensive side here is the US, beginning at about $70.

Maybe Theo or some other member who recently bought a ProField 8X32 or 10X32 can describe the case that came with their binocular.

In addition to buying a medium case, I previously bought a large Profield case for a 10X50 Swaro EL SV. Here is a link discussing the case along with some photos .........

I picked up an EL SV 8x32 earlier this year when they were being sold off to make way for the field pro.

I feel much the same about the supplied case and figured I would be purchasing a smaller closer fitting non-swaro branded case if I should decide to keep this bin.

All suggestions appreciated... have had very little time with the bin and no time to shop cases.

Thanks for these replies - I have family visiting from the UK and USA in the next few months, so they could act as couriers if I bought from a US or UK supplier.

Any other options gratefully considered!

I had a quick check of a couple of our cases. The 21055 fits the EL 8x32 very well and is quite a bit smaller than the Field Pro case (see photos). It also just about fits an EL 8x42 but with no room for a rainguard.

The 21074 canvas and leather case is larger and again fits the EL 8x32. It is also made by the same company that makes the Swaro cases :)

That doesn't hold an EL 8x42 though. The larger 21075 will with room for a rainguard.

These are also available on Amazon.com.

I don't like the Swarovski bag provided with SV 8x32 as it is too big. The inside of the bag says "M(EL32/SLC42)". Obviously made for the bigger SLC42 and then added the SV32 as an after thought. The way the zipper closes makes it awkward to leave the binocular straps hanging out one side. If I shove the neoprene strap inside the bag it comes out all bent. I wanted a bag with a quick release buckle that leaves the bins strap outside just like the Leica UV bag. I contacted EO and was told that this will be a close fit for SV 32

I placed an order and will see how good it fits the SV once I have it.

The case of the old Zeiss Conquest 8x30 (non HD) is perfect as a light, non-bulky case for the SV 8x32 and not expensive. Trouble is of course finding one...

Those interior dimensions are exactly the size V case (for their Talon 8x32's) I have for my 8x32 SV's...Fit is Excellent with strap attached and case is well made! :t:

Personally, I like a bag with a top handle, and none of the Swarovski products have one. So my choice for more than twenty years has been the Tamrac 5400 shown below — which can still be purchased for less than $20 on eBay.

Anyway, (1) it has the top handle and (2) a front pouch that holds the removable shoulder strap as well as other accessories like a lens brush, cleaning equipment and a snack. The binocular is a Swaro 8x42 SLC HD that is 15 cm high with strap attached. In my book it's ideal.

Haven't heard the Tamrac name for a long time. We used to use one each to hold an SLR with macro lens, one other compact lens and a cleaning kit, way back in the 1980's.

Ed I see you have a magnifying lens on your desk. I use one for examining the balance of our bank account, is this what yours is for?

The 42mm Vortex case handles the 32mm SV very well. You can add some padding at the bottom and there's enough room to wrap the strap around the bin before you store it. The case has an internal zippered pocket and an external strap.
The 50mm Vortex case works great with the 8.5X42 SV and the 10X50 SV.

PS
Our three original SV cases have never been used.

...One I found was this Op/Tech: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/201401-REG/OP_TECH_USA_6301112_Soft_Pouch_Bino.html
Does anybody have experience with this one? I like the idea of neoprene as it will hopefully take up minimal space.

I generally like Op/Tech products (I use a lot of their different straps, and I use their scope pouch, which is kind of like this binocular pouch, on my Nikon 50ED scope) but that one is not my favorites. It might work as intended for a bin that is just slightly larger and the same shape as the "pouch" but none of my bins are exactly that size/shape so the pouch is too loose in places, too tight in other places, doesn't cover the bin fully, and the strap on the pouch is useless. For a minimalist covering, you'd be better off with a wrap.
