Jem Babbington has compiled an excellent downloadable report of his recent trip to SW Saudia Arabia, reported earlier on his Birds of Saudi Arabia blog.

I was signed up for a trip to that area in 2003, but sadly it was cancelled due to the security situation, and it's now very difficult for non-residents to visit.

A really nice report and a good read, with several surprises, enigmas and brilliant photographs.
Too bad it's currently so difficult to enter for birders (and other tourists).

Pity that the report itself is also not accessible. It is not pdf but something unopenable on my computer.

Strange. It's a pdf (7.4 MB), and downloads straightforwardly via Firefox, IE, Chrome or Safari on my PC.

I think the way to open it is not very obvious, but I managed... Maybe I should apply for work at our Saudi Arabian plant!

If you follow the link yuo shold be taken to docs.google.com. If you have javascript switched off (or not authorized google.com to use it) you should get a message telling you that you need to enable it. There's then a File tab at the top left, and if you click on that you get a download option. Hence you have the choice of either viewing the pdf on the website, or downloading it to your own machine.

I hope this will help you diagnose what's going wrong.
