curlews
took this pic of curlews and virtually every one seems to have feather problems . Is this normal ? Have I just not noticed before ?

Heres a paper on primary moult of curlews from over your way, Les.
Dated from 1963 to 1978. Without spoiling, seems to suggest, yes, thats pretty much normal. Marvelous to catch a sight like that, like that pic.
