North America,Thrush size, white outer tail feathers

Hi all,
Just back from a visit to Boston MA. This bird was viewed from above for a very brief moment but the white outer tail feathers were very prominent, the rest of the bird could have been blue/grey or buff in colour and seemed to be about UK thrush size. I know its not much to go on but the prominent white feathers in the tail seemed to be quite unusual.

Thanks Trevor, just checked out the forum database and your suggestion seems correct. The colour of the birds back is good and the tail seems quite long in comparison to the rest of the bird, also habitat is correct.
What a wonderful resource we have here, thanks again.

Same here - Northern Mockingbird - just from the brief description. Very common here in West - song can also aid ID - although it can sound like a wide variety of birds (hence mockingbird) the song almost always comes in threes. It also sometimes starts singing before daylight. Tends to perch high (TV antenna, top of tree, telephone pole, etc.) and sing. Barbara
