Red-bellied Woodpecker (1 Viewer)

Hi, I'm new to the forum. My neighbors gave me the birding bug and they tell me our hill in rural western New York is special. I'm beginning to see why. Just this week I've spotted a female red-bellied woodpecker and a male brewer's blackbird at my feeders. What can I put out to keep them coming back? I have black oil sunflower, safflower, thistle and a standard mix out now. Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi,

On behalf of Admin and the Moderators a warm welcome to Bird Forum :t:

I can't help with your query though hopefully someone will be along who can.

Hello, Abbotthill and welcome to Birdforum!

Your hill sounds special, indeed. And it sounds like you've got a good start on feeding. You might want to think about adding suet (woodpeckers and many other birds love it) and perhaps fruit occasionally.

Don't know enough about the Brewer's to know if it will keep coming back; I think they are generally not feeder birds.

We look forward to learning more about your special area.
