Fighting reflexions in a Habicht 8x30 (1 Viewer)

Brock,

Google Baker Eye Shield. I sometimes use one on my Nikon 7x50 Prostar and 18x70 Astrolux. I especially like it when I'm reclining in the ground handholding the 18x70. All the weight is spread across the forehead and cheeks, so arms are not needed much for support, just pointing and steadying. It will fit other binocular eyepieces, like the Nikon SE eyepiece, but I don't think you could sqeeze your nose in there. It will also fit the Nikon E and EII but I can't get my eyes close enough for full FOV with those.

I use these

The standard Swarovski eye shields fit the rubber armour version more snugly, but I still use them on the standard Habichts sometimes.

Apart from shade, glare and reflections etc they also (as somebody above stated) help to spread pressure around the cupped eye...keeping the eyes in that sweet spot.

Following on.... I can even get better and more consistent eye positioning with the cups inverted like this...essentially a hard wider rubber keeping my eyes a mm further away. The habichts seem touchy with eye positioning.

Perhaps I have excessively Simeon features.
