Hummingbird Migration Routes (1 Viewer)

Hello Everyone,
I just found this forum and am hoping someone can help answer my question. I live in SE Wisconsin, late May I had a couple of hummingbirds and then none, haven't seen any for 5 weeks. My mother lives 2.5 hrs north west and has alot of hummers, I can sit there 3-6' away and take great pictures. I heard that my city (Kenosha) which is on the WI/IL border is only a breif stop for them when the migrate for winter and on their return as they head further north. Does that sound reasonable? I don't know anyone here who has "resident" hummers like my mom. Maybe someone can direct me to a web site or book talking about it.

Thanks.
Wendy
