Thought I'd start a new thread dedicated to this one as a lot of us are eager to see the results.

To begin with, some interesting discussions on the dpreview website:

Image samples:
A set from a polish website which is discussed on the first dpreview thread above: http://optyczne.pl/3805-nowość-Fujifilm_FinePix_HS20_-_przykładowe_zdjęcia.html#komentarz

A set showing the different ISO setting results:

From what I can gather, the jury is still out.

Colour looks good.

Seems to be noisy in detail, but what P&S isn't. If the people posting just placed RAW images you have a better chance of gauging the image, second guessing if they've fiddle with the original.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any issues with the tripod mount on the HS 20 or HS10. I've read that the thread is plastic rather than a metal insert, so was wondering how robust it was...

Cheers,

James

it is plastic and by some accounts it is not very robust. On the HS10 I believe you would need to replace the camera body in order to replace a broken mount as its integral.

Giants Castle vulture hide

Hi all. Just acquired a Fuji HS20 "bridge" camera, 16MP, 24-720 zoom. Went up to Giant's Castle vulture hide (Drakensberg, South Africa) yesterday on our first date together. Challenging! Was pleased with some of the results but did battle with two things: a) autofocus tracking of moving subject, and b) processing time after multi-frame shooting. Any tips? Attached a first sample. Cheers. KevinExZim.

Just if anyone UK based is interested this camera is the special value for today only on QVC shopping channel for £367.92 plus p&p. They hold this price until it midnight tonight or when it sell out whichever is soonest.

With QVC you can order it pay either in full or 4 monthly payments and use it for up to 30 days and send it back and get your money back [apart from p&p] if you dont think it meets your expectations. the only downside to this is that you pay for the return postage and the rates that the royal mail chage due to the value can be ott...
