I apologise for my lack of knowledge!!!
Sorry i have no pic but think i can manage a pretty good description.

it was sparrow sized and similar colour except for white-ish lines on the wing and a bright yellow line above each eye.

Is it possibly a yellowhammer or am i completely wrong?

It was in my parents garden which has alot of houses to the back but a railway track and open marshy land to the front. There are also a few trees and really high grasses there too.

There are a few warblers about i've heard them but only ever seen one willow
