A lovely pair of the little devils on my peanuts today for the first time since last Autumn. Where on earth have they been I wonder, and why so late in returning? Glad to see them though, it's nice to see their beautiful plumage, and the way they eat upside down!

I thought the same thing here this week. I've hardly seen any nuthatches here at all since moving in a year ago. This week one has returned and has been here almost daily. I haven't been able to get close enough to see if it's male of female but it sure is nice to have around.
