Looks like a Redstart sp. Ryan - either a female or a 1st Winter bird.
I'm sure one of our Far eastern correspondents will be able to add to that.

Hi,
Looks very similar to a female Daurian Redstart ( Phoenicurus auroreus). I have no clue if it is found in Japan.
