It reminds me of either a Rook or a Carrion Crow.

They come from East Africa originally. Pretty birds but squawky and vulgar, just like English starlings.

I would agree that the first bird is a Carrion Crow. Although you say it was huge, they can look very big, and the shape of it's head and bill isn't right for Raven.

I quite like starlings, yes they are noisy but have fantastic characters and are very humorous. But that is only my opinion.
