Hi, Fellow Birders,
This is a beginner birder from Korea.
I want to share my experience with new Big binoculars.
Nowadays, my birding is getting more excited day by day.
I live in a city near a large reservoir and a lot of birds are coming for winter season.
I was using Swaro EL 8.5X42 , CL 8X25 and Nikon ED82A (w/ 30X DS) for day
time birding.
The Swaros was excellent for birding, but I felt the lack of magnification with
Swaros becaue the birds were usually stayed in the middle of the reservior.
They stayed too far from the view point, so I need a more powered machine.
The ED82A gave me enouth magnification and clean image, but it always
make my forehead wrinkled because as you know I have to close one eye.
So I was thinking about getting high powered Big Binoculars.
At first, I tried my friend's Kowa Highlander Prominar Bino.
Wow, it was excellent. The image was superb.
Then, by chance, I was informed about APM100 Binoculars.
This APM100 is less expensive and bigger (100mm) than HIghlander (82mm).
Some star observers was using APM100 for star watching, but it was not well
known for birding.
I searched Birdforum, but I hardly get any information about APM100 bino.
After a lot of thinking and searching, I placed an order for an APM 100 Bino.
I have to wait about one month to get them...
A few days ago, my new APM100 arrived and I tried it with Nagler 13mm
type 6 EP's and then Kowa TE-14WH (14mm EP's for Kowa Highlander).
Both EP's was excellent.
I mounted APM100 on the Horusbennu 9353TTX tripod and Gitzo GH2720QR head.
They worked excellent.
And, wow, the images with my APM100 were awsome with KOWA EP's.
The images were crystal clear like Kowa Highlander prominar and, furthermore,
with the help of big caliber, I can watch birds even with not much lights.
I highly recommend APM100 with Kowa TE-14WH EP's for detailed birding.
Good luck to you all my fellow birders.
