Took these pics on 01 Jan 2003 in Bonny Island, Nigeria (at the end of the River Niger, soputh of Port Harcourt).

Any well reasoned opinions will be much appreciated!

Doesn't look anything like any Greenbul I've ever seen (or heard of). What about Cisticola? C. erythrops (Red-faced Cisticola) would be a good guess: plain whitish underside, rufous face, relatively plain wings (no rufous), underside of tail dark with pale tips - even habitat would be right...

Well, as you probably know, at least the new photos seem to rule out Rufous-faced - it isn't rufous on the face (as I thought from looking at the first series of photos), but rather on the crown. Would have been nice to see some rufous in the wing, as it otherwise appear rather similar to the (admittedly few) non-breeding Singing Cisticola's I have seen further east...
