How Is Your 2017 List Going? (1 Viewer)

Tuesday, February 28:

Robins, robins, robins! everywhere you look, in my neighbourhood. Whereas a couple of weeks ago, they were only being seen in large flocks, they're now scattered everywhere, probably claiming individual territories. Haven't heard one singing yet, though.

The blackbirds are back as well, now, and they certainly are singing! KONK-ka-REEEEEE!

16) Canada Goose

Glad I went to see th e Desert Wheatear when I did - it seems to have moved on!
Cattle Egret
Glossy Ibis
Sand Martin
136 Barn Owl

Seen at the Steinhoster Becken this morning:

92 Black Woodpecker
93 Australian Shelduck 829th Lifer
94 Wood Sandpiper
95 European Goldfinch
96 Eurasian Oystercatcher

A second Bar-headed Goose turned up too, so with the over-wintering one already here, we might see them breed if they are of the opposite sex
The Australian Shelduck is obviously an escape, but it must have travelled a bit as all "domestic" birds are indoors due to avian flu. An escapee is most likely, therefore from further afield. The have been no reports of any missing from zoos etc either.
