A scops from the balcony.. (1 Viewer)

Had an exciting twist to this evening when a scops owl put on a show, flying around and landing in the trees in front of our apartment in the middle of Bucharest! I heard it first calling whilst I was in the kitchen (strangely... B :)) and managed to attract it by half mimicking its call, and then somehow took this pic through the 15 meters of blackness using a combination of a 400mm lens, manual focus, ISO 4000, a strong torch and in built flash! I think Bucharest must be one of the best cities for birding in Europe, not to mention the other 'treasures' Romania holds.

I have a friend staying in Bucharest now, and I did a "Google" photographic walking tour of the Cismigiu Park, this very morning. What I told her was, "There are many happy birds there." I Googled, "Cismigiu Park Birds."

Coincidence? I love owls and want to stalk them this Summer. I'm such a novice though, it's a bit daunting.

I read that the Danube Delta is a fabulous area for Birders.
