Currently up to two as well
1. Rock pigeon

2. Killdeer
Both scared off by the fireworks display in San Francisco. Happy new year

After a morning at work and seeing 7 by the time I'd finished at noon I then got out properly. Doesn't seem to be a lot around TBH - perhaps due to the strong SW wind? Still managed to finish at dusk on 22 :t:

Rather bizarrely I missed out on pied wagtail which you can virtually GUARANTEE in Alnwick Market Place and house sparrow which, for the past week, have been tweeting away noisily in the rose bush outside the bedroom window! Today? Not so much as a feather :smoke:

93 birds seen - listed in the order we saw them. Unbelievably we didn't see pied wagtail either!

Went to see Indiana's first record of Calliope Hummingbird that just three days ago was a lifer for me. Despite 14 degree Farenheit temperatures and a dusting of snow, the hummingbird is still doing well. I saw the hummingbird for my Year List, as well as eight other species at a nearby National Wildlife Refuge, so I'm now up to 72 for the year.

64. Eastern Bluebird
65. White-throated Sparrow
66. House Finch
67. Calliope Hummingbird
68. Purple Finch
69. Pine Siskin
70. Fox Sparrow
71. Hairy Woodpecker
72. Winter Wren

Dave

Haven't really gotten a good day in - I had my brother down to visit for New Year's so I didn't want to bore him with excessive January 1st frenzy. We just drove around the local reservoir. I plan to go out and pick up some of the easy holes in my list later this week, but I'm sure many will come naturally:

JANUARY 1ST
1. Rock Pigeon
2. Bald Eagle (happy at #2, makes up for stupid #1)
3. Ring-billed Gull
4. Canada Goose
5. Northern Cardinal
6. Mallard
7. Common Merganser
8. White-breasted Nuthatch
9. Ring-necked Duck
10. Bufflehead
11. Ruby-crowned Kinglet
12. Eastern Bluebird
13. Red-bellied Woodpecker
14. Carolina Chickadee
15. Downy Woodpecker
16. American Robin
17. European Starling

JANUARY 2ND
18. American Crow (some crow sp.'s seen on the 1st, could've been Fish though...)
19. Mourning Dove
20. Black Vulture
21. Turkey Vulture

STILL NO HOUSE SPARROW! SO HAPPY!

Filling the holes...

22. Tufted Titmouse
23. Double-crested Cormorant
24. Hooded Merganser
25. Song Sparrow
26. White-throated Sparrow
27. Carolina Wren
28. American Wigeon
29. Eastern Towhee
30. Dark-eyed Junco
31. Northern Mockingbird
32. Pied-billed Grebe
33. Blue Jay
34. American Goldfinch
35. Fish Crow

STILL NO HOUSE SPARROW! SO HAPPY. I am purposefully avoiding my normal walk with the dog so I won't see the flock there. I'm trying to go for a record here! Longest ABA year list without a House Sparrow.
