Of the UK swallows/martins only barn swallow and sand martin have a well-marked breast band (like here), but swallow juveniles would show a red-buff chin and crucially a red-buff forehead. The all dark forehead therefore makes this a sand martin. In juv sand martins the breast-band is less well defined, hence I think it's an adult.

Thought it might be a imm. Barn Swallow because there were 3 or 4 like this with a group of maybe 10-12 Swallows. Do the imm. Barn Swallows have the red markings when they are very young?

Also Sand Martin because it is quite light brown. Young Barn Swallows, even though browner than adults, are still decidedly blackish-brown.

The chin and forehead are noticeably reddish from the start.
