Forgot to mention Penryn River though. Visited at low tide so far fewer waders than on our usual high tide visits. None the less 1 Med Gull, 1 Greenshank, Redshanks, Curlew and half a dozen Teal.

Nothing to add other than the usual female type Black Red still in my back garden, looks like a good summary otherwise

There were the 4 Linnet over town from your road too - not sure if we were by the car or your house at the time! If you were to stand in your (very small) front garden for any length of time sure you'd get an awesome list ... ;)

(Penryn River - yep, low tide, but 50+ Curlew in the pony field of course).

I'm sure you know very well I no longer "list" ;)

[Edit] But I'll give it a go anyway :-O

And some pics -

1- 2 Water Rail with its fish
3 - lots of lotties (Long-tailed Tits)

Nope, the reasonable pre-christmas flock had perhaps moved on (the Golden Plovers certainly must have). We had c.20 in flight the other week, but the general area is suitable for them. New flock perhaps, or just in the area, but not visiting the res to roost.

Nice.

Nice.

There were 20 resting up to right of the hide, then another flock of 50 turned up (approx 1200hrs).

There's still plenty of shore for them to rest on, despite the water levels having risen, so that's good.

Not sure if the earlier ones would have moved on anyway or if disturbance from the public and dogs were to blame ... got a sneaking suspicion it must have been a factor tbh.

Edit - btw both College and Argal Reservoirs are now both completely full - College since a few weeks back, Argal slightly more recently.

Point blank views of the female type Black Redstart outside my bedroom window. Even saw it cough up a pellet (didn't know they did that)!

Remember those flycatching passerines do that now, but never witnessed (or maybe a spot fly once). Presume you collected the pellet for scientific research into its diet ... ? ;)

Spent the morning birding locally - tried for the 'two yellow-browed warblers in a day' scenario, but saw neither. Some nice birds otherwise though -

Goldeneye

The two Scaup - this was the only photo I got of 'them'

Really wanted to but it rolled down the side of the roof and couldn't see it from my window. The roof is also paper thin so don't think I'll put my full weight on it ;)

Report of the lone Bottlenose Dolphin exploring Falmouth Harbour around 11am before heading upriver towards Penryn. Keep your eyes open, I'm attempting to try and add it to my "garden" list as I can just about see some of the harbour from my bedroom window. :-O

Also report of Red-necked Grebe off Castle Beach this morning from CK Hawk.

1000th bf post. Commiserations/congratulations ;)

Might check the grebe out later or perhaps tomorrow ...

Thanks ;) It's been a bumpy ride!

I wouldn't be confident in calling it a RNGrebe, could well just be a Slav but thought I'd pass on the message anyway.

The fish that the Water Rail caught at Swanpool on the 24th has been narrowed down to either Mullet or Bass but I've only had one reply so far so have put the post on iSpot (a brilliant resource for general wildlife ID questions).
