When I was taking this photo, I thought this bird was a Lark Sparrow. Now that I look closer, I'm not sure. The bill and other markings look wrong for a Lark. Thanks for any help to id.

Lark sparrow for me. Though, as you mention, the bill does seem too big and some of the other features are 'off' ... perhaps a young bird?
