Cardinal? (1 Viewer)

I am fairly certain this is a cardinal, but cannot see a crest. I didn't note a crest when I saw it in person either. Please forgive a beginner's silly question, but any help would be appreciated. Okay, I'm a moron. here is the pic

You're absolutely correct! You've got a very nice Northern Cardinal there. Sometimes the crest can hide quite annoyingly, but all the other marks point to cardinal.

Yes, this is the Northern Cardinal. I find that most times when these guys are aware of your presence or are just being watchful their crest will lie down on the top of its head.
Now, this is the time of year when the Cardinals seem to suffer most from mite infestation so there is also the possibility that your Cardinal is starting to show signs of infestation.
