Blackthroat found breeding in Sichuan (1 Viewer)

Summer Wong

Local bird guide in China
On the 12th of May, I totally unexpectedly found a male Blackthroat in Sichuan, and the next day observed both a male and a female at the same place! The male was very active, and kept calling all the time, the female was quiet and shy. I never had a chance to photograph the female, but got many photos of the male!

I just finished a couple of birding tours, and therefore share the photos and this new record a bit late |:p|

But for fear of disturbance to the birds, I won't disclose the exact location.

Interesting and beautiful to see! Is the site a known site for Blackthroat? Is it easily reachable? And have you got any evidence of the nest?

Hi, Temmie. It's not a known site for Blackthroat, the known ones are in Shaanxi. The site is fairly easily reachable. I have no evidence of a nest, but the presence of both a male and a female at the site suggests breeding.
