How about this at your bird bath ? (1 Viewer)

I was up at my mothers house yesterday on the border of Warwickshire and Oxfordshire and this bird came for a drink, so i snapped it with the camera. I have been told that it is a Black Redstart. Can anyone tell me how common these birds are for this area ? I have never seen one before.

Nice pics, Geoff.

Certainly not a common bird in Warwickshire - look at the numbers watching and photographing the Coleshill Black Redstart.

Hi Geoff,
Not sure if it was seen in Warwickshire or Oxfordshire, but as others have said this is a very scarce species in Warwickshire. I just checked the West Midland Bird Report for 2006 and there are just 5 Warks records in there. Hope you send the record to the relevant county recorder; if you do you'll probably need to attach those pics with the record to get it accepted (definitely need to for Warks).

Matt
