Faulty Focusing Knob (1 Viewer)

Re: Binocular Swarovski 10x42 EL purchased in 2010

Just to check if any others have the similar problem with the Centre focusing knob of our Swarovski binocular 10x42 EL.

We made it a point to wipe down (without any used of soap) after every birding trip prior keeping. The plastic groove 'melted' and the material stuck to our fingers. We are surprised that the plastic could degrade in such a short time as the binoculars is only five years old.

There are no dents, scratches, chipping etc as we are very careful during use.

We have similar experience with other products made of plastics especially household items that degraded into stickiness and signs of degrade but not from a brand such as a high end brand like Swarovski.

You should contact Swarovski direct. Their customer service is normally very good.

I agree. Just one question, had you applied any insect repellant to your hands recently?

Thanks.. already did. The cost of shipping to factory from Malaysia is pretty high. Need to add insurance fees too.

Thanks HoneyM... no I did not use any insect repellant. It was discovered in this condition ( the knob was gooey and sticky) after being kept in the cupboard, as we were away. It was a habit our ours to gently wipe it prior keeping.
