Hi All,

I have a friend who is hard of hearing so it makes seeing woodcock displays tough - usually one picks them up in their display flight by ear. Do you think trying to find them with a torch would be disruptive to their displays - anyone tried this?

My father's hearing is quite bad so I act as the spotter. Pick an evening with clear skies and at least a 3/4 moon. You should be able to see the first 3 or 4 flights without a lot of trouble. Works for Dad.

They are generally out before it is really dark, pick a known route with plenty of clear sky - a long straight forest ride or canal would do it.
