Minox 15x56 bl MIG (1 Viewer)

I have model#62045 it states made in Germany? I questioned that statement earlier in regards to the price.

There is a older made in China version listed here in the classifieds.

Its pretty obvious externally the differences.

As to the control of CA?

My guess is its the coatings they are applying.

They have change them according to the brochure and the website.

I just did a search about the Minox models that are mentioned here.

Piergiovanni at Binomania has a very nice comparison review of these
2 models on his website, I will not provide a link, as it needs a translation.
It is easily found from his website, with a Minox search.
He is a very good reviewer, and I agree with his findings with any of the optics
I have enjoyed.

The main things he mentions in his comparison was the advantage of the
15x56BR is lighter and better in ergos. 1,165 g. weight vs. 1,578 g.

Otherwise the 15x58ED is better in better color rendering, both center and
edge, a more correct field of view and superior contrast by about 20%. He
also mentions less CA in the 15x58.

In summation, Minox lightened up the 15x56 a lot, but did sacrifice the view.

For most using a 15X binocular, a tripod mount is necessary to enjoy the advantages
of this size.

He now has possession of the new Swaro. 15x56 and the Zeiss Conquest 15x56.
He seems to get a first look among reviewers.

For the optics guys on here, you may want to spend some time on his site and enjoy the well done reviews.

Yes, Jerry I have read that many times. I had the 15x58ed that you have.

This new binocular is not the same as the one used in that review.

Although I haven't used the older 15x56 I would venture to say these are better.

You yourself have quoted in the Nikon and Swaro forums that the differences between identical bins
With updated coatings are better!

I know the upper tier bins without even looking are going to be better.

Don't be to quick to voice your opinion on a binocular that you haven't tried or read a review on.

Bryce:

I did not know that Minox has updated the 15x56 model.

The review that I have referred to is the older model from 2012.

Sorry about that, I am sure there are improvements with the newer one,
as that is expected.

Jerry

The older version was assembled, or possibly made in China.

I'll just have to try them to say for sure, but compared to the Minox Porro I use, these probably won't cut it.

I get very sharp details on birds and distant objects.

It all depends on your expectations.

I didn't expect them to be as sharp as my Swarovisions, did Iget what iI paid for.

You bet and then some.

They do what I want them to do.

I can view distant objects and still get a sharp image.

Do you know if the Kaibab at $899 is a big step up from the Minox ?

Short answer, no I don't. I highly doubt it would be a big step.

Like I said give Doug a pm. He would be happy to help!

PS. After buying a Vortex HD spotter I'm skeptable to their marketing claims.

Bryce...

I saw those.

Right now I'm enjoying the minox.

The more I use it the more I like it.

Really nothing to fault for what Igot it for.

Really like the focus, very smooth and sharpness is easily obtained without fiddling with it.

A couple months ago I emailed this to Cameraland

Hello. I am considering a pair of the Minox German 15x56 binoculars. Can you tell me if they are optically better than the non German ones? Did they use better coatings on the glass or better glass overall? It's pretty well unanimous that the 15x58 ED are a better bino than the 15x56 non German but I would love to know how the Made in Germany ones stand up to the 15x58 EDs as I have looks through the EDs and found them to be just superb. Thank you in advance.

They replied with this

They are the same optics. The assembly is done in Germany which has the highest level of workmanship.
The BL series is lighter than those ED's but optically they are 1 grade below.

Thank you for your continued support.
If there is anything else that I can assist you with please let me know.
Happy Holidays to you and yours
Doug

Possibly they are misinformed though. It would be great to have all 3 side by side.

Yes, I still in hind site wish I had the ed's. But, this new model is better in several key areas that matter to me.

According to Minox the coatings along with the newer body style are changed from the previous 15x56.

I have never used the made in China version so can't really say much more than what has previously been said about it.

I do know this newer model shows the same amount of detail that I got with the 15x58 ed.

I have several places that i frequently use to test new optics and just go to view wildlife at long distances.

While these aren't perfect for what I'm into them I have been more the pleased.

As I stated earlier they will be replaced but, I like this model enough that I probably won't sell it.

It actually replaced the one I sold you that i ended up rregretted selling!
