Problems with Zeiss Lotutec coating... (1 Viewer)

I use a blowing bulb..

Well, if there is a problem even with careful use of a blowing bulb,
there is too much dust/grit to allow safe polishing of the lenses. That leaves rinsing as the safer alternative.
That means to carry along a squeeze bottle filled with water to squirt over the lenses and then blot them dry. No polishing, no rubbing and hopefully no more lens damage.

PS
Licking the lens clean may not be practicable in a very dusty environment.

It is good for you to admit licking lenses is not a good idea.

Your previous post was way off, nobody does that.

Jerry, no idea who else does, but it works, especially in a wet or snowy environment. It is not perfect, but it keeps the lenses clear enough to remain useful when otherwise they would not be.
In dusty environments, if one is spitting grit, that is obviously not a good solution.

Bob:

Are yours Lotutec coated? Zeiss Lotutec coatings started in 2007 and those
FL's have that emblem near the ser. number.

Jerry

Yes. Mine have Lotutec. The emblem for it is a small curve over the "42" on the 7x42 on the bottom near the hinge.
