Hello from Western NY (1 Viewer)

Hi Everyone!

I’m looking forward to getting to know many of you and learn more about your birding experiences from wherever it is that you call home. As for me, we’ve lately (seems to have started right around the time of the eclipse) had a sudden near disappearance of every regular species of bird that once frequented our feeders! I am finding that it’s been a pretty widespread issue, even as far away as Texas. Hoping that whatever phenomenon caused them to disappear (and where on earth have they gone to?!) will soon be over.

I have long enjoyed the thrill of welcoming all species of birds to our yard, watching and learning about them as they visit. Over the last 5 years I’ve become much more determined and diligent in providing not only a larger variety of food, but various kinds of feeders, bird baths, bird houses and appropriate plants that allow our feathered friends to have a healthy and safe sanctuary whenever they come to visit.

Hi Kimberly and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Hi Kimberly and welcome to the forum. The eclipse coincided with naturally found food becoming more prevalent ast plants matured in the summer (in my opinion). I think you will find the birds returning as winter deepens.

Welcome to BirdForum! I am sure you will find lots to interest you here, and I hope you enjoy your visits.
