Why not just use Excel to begin with...sometimes the easiest thing is in front of us...no reason to go and get more software , free or not...

Wel, at first I was sceptical to. For years I saved all my sightings in Excel, and for the regional birding club I keep al the records in Acces, back from the '70's!!

At first records available for everybody looked like a threat, but it worked out to stimulate lots of people to enter sightings and share latest regional highlights. Our regional birdsightings can be seen: in this link

In case of threatened or disturbance sensitive species, I blur the precise location. All the information find its way to Birdlife.

Altogether, this motivated me to stop using Excel only...

I guess in England is birdtrack most used???

The advance of using a website like Observado.org is that you can access it everywhere were an internetconnection is available. And you have your data also everywhere available. The data is beining backupped and the distribution of the data to birdlife and other nature protecting organisations is done by this website while you are relaxing in your chair and watching tv.
