Reversing conditioning in fosterd birds (1 Viewer)

I'm an Aussie aviculturist living in the Philippines. The Star finches here are all fostered under Society's. Stars readily bond with thier own kind, build nests and incubate but don't feed their hatchlings. If I wanted to undo this conditioning could I split a pair of Stars and pair each up with Society of the opposite sex and let them raise a couple of Hybrid broods before reforming the inital Star pair. My hope is that the Star would learn from the Society during it's "parental apprenticeship". Has anyone ever tied this? I don't want to create hybrids for no purpose but getting Stars to feed theri own young may be the end that justifys the means.

Hi Maquiling, welcome to Birdforum ! You may have missed it but Birdforum is dedicated to wild birds only. We would love to hear about the wild birds you see in the Philippines :t:.
