No sign of the GWE this evening, but great sight of the hobby flying towards the oak tree to the left of the hide with a dragonfly in its beak. Some people in the hide got great shots - not me my camera is not good enough, but people might find the picture here useful so they can check out one of the sites it likes to fly from and to?

An adult Black-headed Gull sporting yellow leg ring "2TDV" noted at the Flashes last Thursday (20th July) was ringed at Pitsea, Essex on the 14th January 2017 and then noted at Hazelwood Marshes in Suffolk three days before being sighted at Upton Warren.

Another pleasant, but warm, day, down at Upton, Dipped on the Hobby (again)! but good variety of birds and butterflies -(12 Species)
Saw this Hawker, which at first I thought was a Common Hawker, but on studying the photo realised it was a possible (Male)`Blue` form?? of Southern Hawker, or teneral.
Any experts got any ideas?
Also seen was this Copper Underwing
