The new GH4 shoots the same 4096x2160 4K video as the $12,000 Canon EOS-1D C DSLR at a rumored price below $2,000. It has a 2.3x crop in 4K mode so a 100mm lens will work like a 230mm lens. It also shoots 96fps slow motion in full 1080p HD at up to 200Mb/s.

Newsshooter editor Dan Chung talks to Hotrod Camera's owner Illya Friedman about the new Panasonic GH4.

Friedman is one of the lucky few that has already had hands on with the GH4 and is has been selling and supporting Panasonic's GH line for cine use for many years.

The videos look great on my iMac at highest resolution and I've waited for this announcement for months but bought a GH3 yesterday. I decided I wasn't quite ready to handle the 4k memory and workflow issues. I'll wait a year and then take the plunge after I get a Mac Pro and a bigger external drive.
Neil.
