ES100 v's new Nikon 82mm (1 Viewer)

Hello All

Just popped into In-Focus at Titchwell to check out the new 82mm ED Nikon scope.
Lovely scope but...I then tried it against the Opticron ES100.

In my opinion and in my eyes the image in the Nikon appeared sharp ,well corrected colour-wise etc,etc but also slightly flat? or ...milky?just lacking in that 'something' you expect from a top scope.

The ES100 was big and heavy but the image quality was superb.
A much more pleasant ..totally natural view.

I've used both Kowa TNS3 and Nikon ED111 and this was my first view ever through an Opticron scope and I was very impressed.

My additional interest in astronomy may well swing it the 100's way.

Views?

As mentioned in another forum I have the Opticron HR66 with a 20ww eyepiece (I wear glasses) and after looking through other peoples asorted Kowas, Swarovskis, Leicas, Zeiss etc., I have nothing to complain about as this scope combination seems almost on a par with these illustrious makes for a much smaller financial outlay. Thirty year warranty too!
