Help with this insect (1 Viewer)

Hi, have gone through the www to identify this insect but got nowhere, can anyone shed any light .
This insect appeared in our pool on holiday in menorca, it is a good 2 inches long and when I put it on the grass it burrowed in within seconds.

Omg, how great u are, it's been bugging me ( excuse the pun..) for days. I said to my partner it looks like a cricket but not with that head.
Found some more pics now ............... What a beast

Hi, Any ideas of this insect please, I don't believe it's rare seen about 2 weeks ago in North Warks, I affraid I'm only using the Collins guide for insects good value though for the price.
