Newly published research has revealed that swans are still frequently being shot, and in some number.
 
To get a real insight into the problem of where this is happening in the UK the WWT need to Xray mute swans as well as migratory species. Migratory swans do not neccessarly spend the whole winter in the UK. Many move to and fro across the North sea during the course of the winter and the problem may occour overseas.
