Sony HX300 for Digiscoping (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have a Sony HX300 (the one with the 50x zoom), and will get a Kowa 774 Scope in a few days. Is there any way to use these two together?

Alternatively, what would be a good camera to buy to go along with the Kowa 774?

Thanks for your help!

Kai

Hi Kai,
Welcome to Birdforum! The Sony HX300 is a nice camera, but may not be the best camera for digiscoping. Superzoom cameras, like yours, have very limited range when placed against the eyepiece of the spotting scope due to serious vignetting issues and the inability of the internal lenses to properly align with the eyepiece lens. Others may pipe in, but look for a camera such as the Canon S90 or Nikon V1, Panasonic GH3, Sony RX100. If you search this site for Kowa 774 you'll learn which cameras and adatpers are the best. Good digiscoping!
