Walking the dog... or a tale of 9 owls (1 Viewer)

mikfoz

It's not a competition. Watch the birdy!
Took the dog for a walk round Marton Mere due to the increasingly late sunsets and it being a really nice evening. Checked out the LEO roost and whaddya know! 9 Long-eared Owls showing fairly well. I've only ever spotted seven before but heard there's nine. I was always a bit dubious that people were counting the same owl twice from a different angle but seeing as how I could get six in one tree from the same viewpoint and more or less in the field of view of my bins then two more in a second tree and a third in another that makes nine in my book.

So not a bad result for primarily a need to give my poor dog a good walk after being housebound for a day or so.

Other birds seen: Kestrel, Teal, Goldeneye, Fieldfare, Blackbird, Robin, Cormorant, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Wood Pigeon, Starling, Greylag Goose, Pink-footed Goose, Canada Goose, Mute Swan, Wigeon

As I said, not really birdwatching as such, but still a pretty good evening.
