The live view seems to have stopped working on my 7d, has anyone else had such a problem.

No. Mines still working despite using it quite a lot.

My 7D developed an Err40 fault after five months. It's to do with the power supply and had to be repaired under guarantee. Only took a week!

Simon,

The problem could be a temporary one caused by the hot weather. Did a warning symbol resembling a thermometer appear in the viewfinder? According to the manual, Live View will be disabled until the camera cools down sufficiently.
