Hi Steve, I was planning to go today as I was staying with family in Sheffield, which would have halved the journey for me, but the forecast was so poor I didn't bother.

See here, they are on the wing at Grafton already:

Looking at last year's counts it looks like the 1st 2 weeks of September were better (still only 2!!), but counts everywhere seemed low in 2009. Perhaps this year will be better?

If you do go I would be interested in how you get on. Might go myself before the end of the season, or possibly next year? I noticed you are also seeking info on Chambers Farm Wood for BH. I can't find much info myself on that site, but I'm sure I found something in the past about exactly where to look. I'm reluctant to travel far this year without knowing there's a good chance of seeing one, having failed to see one at Whitecross Green Wood last year.

Steve

ps. just found this, still no idea exactly where though:

Cheers Steve - I have a map which shows where that is. I'll keep you posted. By the way I picked up a late Silver-studded Blue in Cornwall on holiday, plus scotch Argus at Arnside at the weekend.

I'm hoping for 2/3 of the 2010 remaining; Brown Hairstreak, Silver-spotted Kipper, Adonis Blue. The prep begins for The Duke next year!

Still on course to have no more than five left by close 2011.

I was there on sunday and saw a total of five at fiveways, another person had a count of nine, they can be seen anywhere in the wood, if your very lucky you could see one in the garden, but fiveways is the best chance..Walk along the main track from the car park and turn left at the fork, continue to the bottom and tou will see a bench, this area is the best chance of seeing one.

Colin.

Thanks Colin, I've looked on Google Earth but it's not obvious which direction the main track goes from the main carpark. Can anyone provide a map showing the location of fiveways please?

Cheers,

Steve
