Nikon ED50 +digiscoping with non Nikon camera (1 Viewer)

I think I am narrowing down my choice of a scope to an ED50 with a fixed 20X MC (though still considering the 27X) and am looking at digiscoping. I see you have to use the FSA1-3 adapters an then specific attachment rings for specific Nikons. I note that several of you have used other cameras. How would I figure out if I can use my digital (I have several available including Canon EXLM, Sony DSC and a newer Olympus) and how would I know what attachment ring? I am not in a place I can go into a shop and get help, unfortunately.
Thanks for your input!

Merbella,
The following thread may help for starters: http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=90115&highlight=digiscoping+ed50
(here you will find reference to the Olivon adapter).

There are a number of proprietary adapters available, SRB Griturn: (http://www.srb-griturn.com/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=389) is just one of the few

You can google digiscoping adapters and find several more.

I have not yet tried digiscoping with my ED50 but intend to do so soon, right now I use an ED82 with home made adapters.

I feel that my existing adapters do not suit the ED50 (too heavy\large), I just feel that the compact and lightweight ED50 deserves a lightweight\compact adapter; I am in the planning stages of constructing an adapter specifically for the ED50, the new adapter I am planning is likely to be a lighter weight version of the one that 'Feathered one' made (search birdforum for his great adapter threads).

I cannot comment on the suitability of the cameras that you already have, but most likely they can all be used by some means or other even if they are just ‘hand held’, some forum members have produced excellent ‘hand held’ photographs.

Presently I use a Fuji F31fd, ( http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilmf31fd/ ) it is a 3x optical zoom, this type\style of camera has quite a few advocates and you will find many digiscoping camera postings on this forum.

Hope this helps a little.

Regards,
John
